Visa Information
A foreign national travelling to Nigeria may need a visa before departure. Your nationality, passport, purpose of travel and any bilateral or regional exemption determine the correct route. ECOWAS member-state nationals and travellers covered by a Nigerian visa-abolition or waiver agreement may be exempt, but every traveller should verify eligibility before booking.
For many short conference visits, the Nigeria Immigration Service lists short-stay categories such as Business—Single Entry, Tourism, Creative Arts and other purpose-specific visas. The Nigeria Immigration Service—not AFTiFest—determines the appropriate category and application outcome.
Registration comes before an AFTiFest invitation letter.
Complete your AFTiFest 2026 registration and receive approval before requesting an official Letter of Invitation. Request it as early as possible. The letter supports your application but does not guarantee a visa, entry to Nigeria or an appointment at a diplomatic mission.

Common requirements vary by category and can include a passport with at least six months’ validity and blank pages, a recent photograph, return travel, accommodation details, proof of funds and supporting invitation documents.

Visa Interview Tips
Begin early. If the Nigeria Immigration Service or your responsible Embassy, High Commission or Consulate requires an appointment, interview or biometric enrolment, follow that office’s instructions exactly. Your passport should ordinarily have at least six months’ validity and the blank pages required for your visa class.
Take the confirmation page and supporting documents specified for your category. AFTiFest registration confirmation, your invitation letter where issued, programme materials and accommodation information can help explain the legitimate purpose of your visit, but they do not replace any required immigration document.
Schedule the required appointment early.
Book with the Nigerian Embassy, High Commission or Consulate responsible for your place of residence as soon as the official process allows. Do not pay an unofficial agent for an appointment.
Review the application process carefully.
Match names, dates, passport numbers and travel plans across every form and supporting document. Check the selected visa class against the purpose of your visit.
Coordinate with an official delegation where available.
If you are travelling through a government, institution, company or ecosystem delegation, ask the recognised delegation lead about coordinated documentation and arrival plans.
Verify fees and requirements before your appointment.
Use the live Nigeria Immigration Service portal or the official diplomatic mission website. Fees and document lists can differ by nationality, category and processing route.
Be ready to demonstrate strong ties to your country of residence.
If requested, provide credible evidence of employment, study, family, business, property or other commitments consistent with your planned return.
Document previous compliant travel.
If relevant and requested, carry evidence showing that you complied with the conditions and departure dates of earlier international travel.
Include relevant AFTiFest materials.
Carry your confirmed registration, approved Letter of Invitation and current event information alongside—not instead of—the official documents required for your visa category.
