AFTiFEST PRIVACY CENTRE
This policy explains, in plain language, how Scepters Corporate Media Ltd handles personal information connected with AfroFutureTech iFest, this website and official event services.
Optional browser storage is off unless you enable it. Reopen at any time.
Information supports your enquiry, registration, event access, safety, requested updates or another clearly stated purpose.
We do not sell or rent personal information. Service providers receive only what is reasonably needed for their role.
Send privacy and rights requests to support@aftifest.com.
Scepters Corporate Media Ltd is the organisation responsible for deciding why and how personal information is processed for AfroFutureTech iFest (AFTiFest). This policy covers aftifest.com and its local preview, ticket and attendance enquiries, exhibitor and sponsor enquiries, creator and media credentials, talent and partner applications, Kids Tech Universe registrations, official communications and event delivery.
Questions, objections and rights requests can be sent to support@aftifest.com. We may ask for proportionate information to verify that a request concerns you.
Personal information should be processed fairly, lawfully and transparently; collected for a specific purpose; limited to what is needed; kept accurate and secure; and retained no longer than necessary.
Most information comes directly from you. We may also receive it from the person booking for a group, your organisation or delegation lead, an authorised ticketing or payment provider, an accreditation partner, a venue or safety provider, a publicly available professional source, or another person where you have authorised the sharing.
| PURPOSE | TYPICAL INFORMATION | LAWFUL BASIS |
|---|---|---|
| Respond to enquiries and requested information | Contact details, organisation, interest and message | Steps at your request, consent where applicable, and legitimate interest in answering genuine enquiries |
| Provide tickets, accreditation, programmes and event access | Identity, contact, order, eligibility and check-in information | Contract, steps before contract and legitimate event-administration interests |
| Manage sponsors, exhibitors, vendors and partners | Professional details, proposals, objectives and communications | Contract, pre-contract steps and legitimate business interests |
| Deliver safe, accessible and inclusive experiences | Access needs, guardian details, incident and limited health information | Contract, consent, vital interests, legal obligations and substantial protective interests where applicable |
| Send optional news or promotional messages | Name, email, interests and communication preferences | Consent, or another lawful basis where direct-marketing law permits |
| Protect the website, event and legal rights | Technical logs, access records, communications and incidents | Legitimate interests, legal obligation and establishment or defence of legal claims |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we consider the benefit, necessity and possible impact on your rights. Where consent is the basis, you may withdraw it without affecting processing already carried out lawfully.
The current static website preview does not silently transmit form or chatbot enquiry content to an AFTiFest server. It prepares a message in your device’s email application, and you must send that email to complete the enquiry. Your email provider then handles the message under its own privacy terms.
If you enable Functional storage in the Privacy Centre, the browser may retain a limited number of recent enquiry or chatbot drafts on that device. With Essential-only selected, those personal drafts are not stored by this website. You can remove existing drafts by clearing this site’s browser data.
When a secure hosted form, CRM, ticketing or payment service is introduced, this policy and the notice beside the relevant form should be updated before launch to identify the provider and actual processing flow.
The current site uses browser local storage and session storage rather than advertising cookies. Your preferences are available through the footer’s Privacy choices control.
| KEY | CATEGORY & PURPOSE | DURATION / CONTROL |
|---|---|---|
aftifestPrivacyConsent | Essential — records the privacy options you selected | Up to 12 months, or until site data is cleared |
aftifestChatIntroduced | Essential session preference — prevents repeated automatic chatbot introductions | Ends with the browser session |
aftifestChatDrafts | Optional Functional — retains up to 10 recent chatbot enquiry drafts | Until cleared or replaced by newer drafts |
aftifestSubmissionDrafts | Optional Functional — retains up to 20 recent website form drafts | Until cleared or replaced by newer drafts |
Pages also request fonts from Google and photographs from external image hosts such as Unsplash. When your browser requests those files, the provider may receive standard technical information such as IP address, browser details and the referring page. These resources are used to deliver requested page content, not by AFTiFest for behavioural advertising.
No analytics platform or advertising pixel is active in this preview. If one is introduced, the relevant optional category must be respected and this table updated.
Retention depends on the purpose, sensitivity, contractual needs, safety, disputes and applicable legal or accounting obligations. Our target schedule is:
When information is no longer needed, it should be securely deleted or anonymised.
Kids Tech Universe information must be provided or approved by a parent or legal guardian. We limit child information to registration, age-appropriate programme delivery, authorised collection, accessibility, safeguarding and safety. Children should not independently send sensitive information through general website forms.
Photography, promotional use or extended sharing involving an identifiable child requires a separate, clear guardian decision where consent is the appropriate basis. See the Kids Safeguarding Policy for operational protections.
Optional promotional email should include a practical unsubscribe method. You may withdraw marketing consent at any time. Service messages about a booking, safety, access or a requested application are not promotional messages.
AFTiFest is a public festival and official teams may capture wide-angle crowd, stage and atmosphere imagery in signposted areas. Close-up interviews, testimonials and controlled promotional shoots should use an appropriate notice, release or consent process. Accredited media and attendee photography are also governed by the event’s published media and conduct rules.
We do not use submitted information to make solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. If that changes, we will explain the logic, impact and route to human review.
Subject to the circumstances and applicable law, you may have the right to be informed; request access; correct inaccurate information; request deletion; restrict or object to processing; withdraw consent; request portability; object to direct marketing; and request human intervention regarding qualifying automated decisions.
Send a request to support@aftifest.com with enough detail to identify the interaction. We will respond within the period required by applicable law and explain any lawful limitation.
If a concern is not resolved, you may contact the Nigeria Data Protection Commission. The official Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 provides the primary framework referenced in this policy.
Where another privacy law applies to a specific activity—for example, the GDPR for qualifying processing involving people in the European Economic Area—we will honour the additional transparency, rights and transfer requirements that apply to that activity.
We use proportionate organisational and technical safeguards intended to protect confidentiality, integrity and availability. These include access limitation, staff and supplier controls, secure service selection, minimisation, appropriate authentication and incident response. No online system can be guaranteed completely secure.
If a personal-data breach creates a risk that requires notification, we will follow applicable assessment, authority-reporting and affected-person notification duties.
Privacy questions, consent withdrawals and rights requests should be sent to support@aftifest.com. General event contacts are available on the Contact & Visitor Support page.
This policy may change when services, providers, event operations or legal requirements change. Material changes will be highlighted and the effective date at the top of this page will be updated.
Before public launch, AFTiFest should confirm its registered controller contact details, named service providers, final ticketing and payment flow, actual retention schedule, international-transfer arrangements and Data Protection Officer or adviser details where required. This page is an operational implementation, not a substitute for final Nigerian legal and data-protection review.
