KIDS TECH UNIVERSE / AGES 6–17

Curiosity with
care around it.

Our safeguarding framework is designed to make hands-on technology learning safe, age-appropriate and respectful.

1. Guardian responsibility and consent

A parent or legal guardian must submit the registration, provide accurate information and agree to the participation conditions. Registration by a child alone is not accepted.

2. Check-in and collection

Children must be checked in and collected through the published Kids Tech procedure. The collecting adult may be required to show matching identification or an authorised collection credential. A child will not be released to an unverified person.

3. Supervision and conduct

Sessions should be delivered by authorised facilitators within designated learning areas. Children, guardians, staff and volunteers must follow the Code of Conduct. Bullying, harassment, intimidation, inappropriate contact and unsafe behaviour are not accepted.

4. Health, medical and accessibility information

Guardians should provide information necessary for safe participation, including relevant allergies, access requirements and emergency considerations, through the secure registration process when available. Medication remains subject to the final event medical protocol.

5. Photography and media

Festival entry is not blanket consent to feature a child in identifiable promotional content. A separate, clear guardian choice will be requested where photography, recording or a Kids Tech Showcase feature is planned.

6. Digital safety

Internet, coding, content and creator activities must be age-appropriate. Children should not be required to publish personal contact details or create public accounts without clear guardian approval.

7. Reporting a concern

Report an immediate concern to the Kids Tech lead, venue security or the nearest event manager. Advance questions can be sent to kids@aftifest.com. Emergencies should be escalated to the appropriate public emergency service.

8. Data protection

Child information is handled in accordance with the Privacy Policy and should be limited to what is necessary for participation, safeguarding and safety.

Launch requirement: Finalise named safeguarding leads, secure registration, staff vetting, incident escalation, medical protocol and venue-specific collection procedures before children are admitted.
